BULLHEAD CITY — The Laughlin High School boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season during the Basketball Holiday Shootout.

The Cougars beat River Valley High School in the first win for head coach Andre Procise.

“I think the guys showed up looking to finally get a win,” Procise said. “They had an energy from that morning like they weren’t going to give up. They pushed through and faced some difficult situations. We’ve been working on changing the things we can control and not worrying about the things we can’t. I think we just needed a taste of victory for them to understand what it takes to get more in the games to come. We are ready to really make a statement in the new year.”

Anthony Santilli led the team with 14 points, five assists and three steals. Jason Castro and Brett Schnitzler both were in double figures and combined for 25, while Marcello Faccioli had seven points and five steals. Bryson Drescher and Davinci Facciolli also had big games for the Cougars.

Laughlin will be off for the rest of the year and will return to the court on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m against Faith Christian Academy. The Centurions are 4-6 this year and beat Laughlin 62-47 in their first meeting of the season.
